The Commonwealth of Massachusetts recognizes the Seal of Biliteracy, which is attached to the student’s transcript. Any student who tests in IBSL for Spanish or French and scores a 6 will receive the seal of biliteracy without needing to complete the biliteracy exam.
Any student who tests in IBHL for Spanish or French and scores a 5 will receive the seal of biliteracy without needing to complete the biliteracy exam.
Achieving the Seal of Biliteracy is a significant accomplishment, which can give students a boost on their college applications. As well, some colleges will be willing to grant course credits for having obtained the Seal of Biliteracy, as they do when students pass an AP test.
